- The way a trailer ramp door is hinged is going to depend on how the manufacturer decides it needs to be hung so it really could be one long piece or several pieces. The hinge(s) may or may not extend all the way to the edges but most of the ones I have seen do extend the length of the door.

For an upward opening door, there would be nothing holding the door in place which would be dangerous because the door would become unhinged.
